At our last meeting Lion District
Governor Bud talked with the membership about the availability of grant
money for emergencies, Sight First and the collecting of 271 million dollars
and membership. Our district has had a 17 percent increase in women members
with a goal to increase that number to 25% .
Club membership now stands at:
50
Active Members: 34
Member at Large: 1
Other Members: 15
Lion President Steve read the results taken by the membership
on women joining the club.
Two questions that reflected members views on this question were:
1. Do you believe women can make
a positive contribution to the Pearisburg Lions Cub:
Yes - 19, Maybe - 4, No - 3
2. I can support and promote
having women join the Pearisburg Lions Club;
Yes - 16, No - 5, Unsure - 4
Lion Darrell reported that at the Multi-District 24
Leadership Conference he recently attended, out of the 30 attendees, 13 were
women who held positions as Club Presidents, Vice District Governor, Zone
Chairs and Officers.
The Fall Conference will be held
on October 17-18 in Roanoke. Six members have registered to attend.
Lion Buddy needs help collecting money at the little
league football games on Tuesday nights. See Lion Buddy if you can help.
Lion James asked the membership, at the direction of
the Board, how they felt about wearing a tie and jacket during the months of
January, February and March. Lion James will get back to the membership
with a decision.
Lion Reverend Al reported that over 1000 eye glasses were
recently collected and turned into the recycling center in Roanoke.
