Next
dinner meeting will be Thursday July
10th at the Pearisburg Community Center. At this meeting we will be inducting
our new Board of Officers. Lion District Governor Bud Chambless
will conduct the ceremony.
Former
Pearisburg Lion Joe Collida,
now a Lion in Dallas, Texas, attended out membership meeting. It was good
seeing Lion Joe again.
Lion Fred Reported that we netted between $900
and $1000. dollars from our participation in the
Festival in the Park. Hamburgers and Hot
Dogs did really well but we should cut back on the BBQ for next year.
Membership
continues to be key issue for our club.
Remember, we have a
Membership incentive program. For every new member brought into the club, that
member will receive either; one quarter free dues or $70.00 of merchandise from
the Lions Catalog. See either Lion Vernon or Lion Al for a Membership Application.

And once again a
story for your amusement.
A husband and wife came for counseling
after 20 years of marriage.
When asked what the problem was, the wife
went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they ever had in
the 20 years they had been married. She went on and on and on; neglect,
emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable and a laundry list of
unmet needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.
Finally, after allowing this to go on for some
time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the wife
to stand, embraced and kissed her passionately as her husband watched with a
raised eyebrow. The women shut up and quietly sat down as though in a daze.
The therapist turned to the husband and
said, ‘This is what your wife needs at least 3 times a week, can you do this?’
The husband thought for a moment and
replied, ‘Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on
Fridays, I play golf.’
Now that’s a serious golfer!!!!!
Let’s keep in our prayers those Lions
that are sick and injured.
Also, all our
servicemen and women and their families. May they stay safe.
