Next dinner meeting will be Thursday August 28 at the Pearisburg Community Center. This will be our annual family steak cookout.
At Thursday’s Board of Directors meeting the following business took place.
Lion Treasurer Dell presented the following financial report:
Administrative Account Balance…$1800.37
Activities Account Balance………..$11,625.47
The Board accepted the resignations of Privileged Member Scott Prince and Lion Ronnie Mutter.
Club Membership now stands at: 50
Membership continues to be a Board concern. Discussion continues on women joining the club. Several Lions from clubs with women members will be asked to talk to the membership at either our Sept 11 or Oct 9 meeting on the pros and cons of having women members join their club.
Lion Charlie and Lion Al will be putting a survey together to get members opinion on women members joining the Pearisburg Club.
Lion James shared with the Board the original Scout Troop 34 charter dated 1947. Copies will be made and hung in the Scout hut and the Community Center.
Lion Bill Anderson has agreed to be the clubs representative with our Scout Troop.
Lion Doug will be asked to lead our clubs participation in the upcoming District 24 Bland Music Contest. Help will be needed in planning and organizing this event planned for early 2009.
The Board approved a donation of $100 to the Spartan Coaches Appreciation Fund Committee and $250 to Hope House (Giles Homeless Shelter).
Lion Vernon reported he has a list of names who bought calendars but have not been approached this year. This list will be shared with the membership. Members will be asked to sign up and contact a recognized household. This information will not be our web site, only one hard copy will be on display at our August 28th meeting. The final date for calendar information is Sept 11th.
Seven eye examination applications were approved by the Board.
